How do I register for the GRE?

The GRE is conducted all year round at over 1000 centres around the world in 160 different countries. It is available to take as a computer adaptive test throughout the year or as a paper-based test thrice a year where computer/internet access is limited or unavailable.

1. The registration process begins with the creation of your ETS account.
2. After filling in the details on the account creation page(s), the next step is to check your available dates for the GRE general test.
3. This will then prompt you to the payment page.
It is important to note that the GRE costs the same in almost every country with minor variations based on currency exchange value.

Your ETS Account will be the primary method of checking your test dates, test scores and other services that you will require. Please pay attention to the Name that you enter in your ETS Account as it will have to be the same name as in your Passport and other identification documents.
Furthermore, the GRE can be rescheduled or cancelled through your ETS Account. You can also make use of some GRE preparation material upon signing up for the process.

Pointers for Choosing GMAT Classes for Verbal Aptitude

An important aspect of GMAT classes is the manner in which you prepare for the examination. It is a widely known fact that preparation for the quantitative module for the GMAT is very different from other examinations in that it requires a conceptual understanding rather than a formula based approach on account of the integrated nature of questions. An often overlooked fact is that not only mathematics, but also the preparation for the verbal module requires a customized approach.

The verbal aptitude section of the GMAT consists of reading comprehension, critical reasoning and sentence correction questions. Your GMAT classes must take into account that preparing for this section of the examination requires a sound understanding of not only grammar, but also a firm grasp of critical thinking and logical reasoning.

Questions based on reading passages and especially critical reasoning require the aspirant to quickly decipher whether they have strengthen or weaken the argument, find conclusions or identify assumptions or whether they have to evaluate conclusions or resolve seemingly paradoxical arguments. Having the ability to solve such questions within the stipulated time requires your trainer to teach you these critical skills and the imparting of these skills forms the cornerstone of your GMAT success story.

Tips to Select GMAT Classes for Quantitative Aptitude

The most important thing to focus on while taking GMAT classes is the fundamental approach to decipher questions. Unlike other examinations, the GMAT does not have a pre-determined question paper and neither will you be able to solve questions by applying pre-set mathematical formulae or verbal jargon. Let us discuss a few key pointers that will come in handy while attempting questions on quantitative aptitude during the test.

The GMAT classes you attend must take this very important aspect into account and tailor your classes accordingly. You must develop a conceptual understanding of mathematics in order to attempt the questions successfully during the examination.

A good barometer to determine whether your GMAT classes will bear fruit is your trainers’ ability to break down questions into simple to understand steps and make you understand how to adopt this approach during the examination. This fundamental understanding of treating each question on its merit rather than treating it as a question of a particular branch of mathematics is the hallmark of an institute which takes its GMAT classes seriously.

How to know if you will get a good GMAT score? Part-2

Are you putting in 3-4 hours of productive study time, including practice?
Scoring well on the GMAT is directly proportional to the quantity and the quality of the time that you put in to studying. Get as many resources and study material as you can. And study the hell out of it!

Do you have a disciplined approach towards your study routine?
You need to include as many mock tests as you can into your study plan. Practicing questions alone is insufficient. And you need to make sure that you adhere to a systematic approach towards tackling the GMAT.

How to know if you will get a good GMAT score?

If you are having trouble with confidence in approaching the GMAT, I would strongly suggest signing up for GMAT classes. However, if you are adamant about doing it on your own, there are a few questions you need to answer to help you with your woes. They are as follows:

 Are you studying smart?

Studying hard is a thing of the past. You have got to study smart. Know what the exam pattern is like. Know which topics have the most number of questions in the exam. If you are weak in one particular topic, move on! Don’t waste your time and mental energy on a topic that will at most present you with 2 questions on the GMAT

The best GMAT Classes - What they are like?

Going back to studying after a few years can be hard. But the fact that you are considering going to a business school proves that at some level you are mentally prepared for the next bout of hitting the books. And that journey begins with attending GMAT classes.

Many educational consultancies and academic counsellors offer a myriad of different products and services to choose from and choosing the right one to sign up with can be just as daunting as preparing your applications for business schools.

However, there are a few key points to note that can give you a clearer picture on who will help you make your MBA dreams come true. Here they are:
They work for you AND they work with you - Find a place that is as committed to your dream as you are, if not more. Yes, such places do exist! Do your research. Find them.
They know how to train all types of students - Whether you’re smart or not, cracking the GMAT is a function of time, perseverance and attitude. The exam is designed to test whether your management material or not, after all. So, find a GMAT center that accepts all types of students with varying aptitudes.

While this last point might sound harsh, not everyone is cut out to be Ivy League material.
